Disaster

DISASTER

Your family at Community Life Church is here to assist you in preparing for and responding to hurricanes and other natural disasters. We consider it an honor to be able to serve your family in these challenging times because we love our neighbors and have discovered it is in these moments that faith comes to life and the Good News becomes real in our community.

Relief Spotlight

Hurricane Season is here and the new Disaster Response Team at Community Life has been working hard to prepare our congregation and community for this year’s storms. The Team has been working with local and state government agencies and national Christian relief organizations to gather the best information and resources to help you prepare. When our homes are ready, we can respond to our neighbor’s needs and quickly serve our community after a storm. If you need information on preparing, please download a Community Life Hurricane Preparedness Guide or check out these links for more help.

Relief Assistance and Serving Opportunities

Relief Assistance and Serving Opportunities

To respond to the growing needs of our community, we need volunteers like you to serve in a multitude of ways, including cutting down trees and raking yards but also making phone calls to check on elderly and neighbors with limited abilities, making preparedness kits, and assorted administrative tasks, among others. Please click the link to fill out the form and learn how to serve your neighbors and make a difference in challenging times. Training is available, so if you are willing, we can teach you.

Care in Crisis

Sunday, Aug 20th, 1-3 pm

This training event is open to our Disaster Response Team and anyone else who would like to learn more about caring for our neighbors after a natural disaster or other crises. We will discuss pertinent topics such as stress and the effects of trauma, grief and loss, and others. If you have ever been through a major disaster or personal loss, then you might know that some people need to experience comfort, peace, love, and safety after a similar event. This event is free, and lunch will be provided.

Skidsteer Training

Saturday, September 23rd

This training opportunity is open to anyone interested in operating a skidsteer (Bobcat) on the Disaster Response Team and Local Serving Teams. It is an all-day, hands-on course demonstrating safe driving skills and the basic operational techniques of a skidsteer.

Upcoming EVENTS

Serve Saturday

This October, we are launching SERVE SATURDAYS! Serve Saturdays are an opportunity at different points throughout the year for us to get outside the 4 walls of the church and find ways to practically love our community. Our hope is that serving others becomes our focus throughout the year. Simple acts of selfless love can open hearts to Jesus, and together we can make a difference.

Our first Serve Saturday is coming up on Saturday, October 14th! We will gather at the church and then disperse teams to various serve sites around the Navarre, Gulf Breeze, and Pensacola communities. To see a list of the various serve site opportunities and sign up, make sure you check out the link below!

Community Dinners in Pensacola

First Sunday of Each Month

Adult volunteers from Community Life serve dinner to our neighbors in need on the first Sunday night of each month from 2:30PM-6:30PM at Bright Bridge Ministries in the Brownsville community of Pensacola. If you are interested in joining us one Sunday, please click here, or if you are able to cook and serve lunch throughout the week at Bright Bridge, please email clint@clc.life for more info and to be connected!

Nicaragua Mission Trip

2023

Currently, we are planning trips to Leon, Nicaragua, for 2023. These week-long mission opportunities will be open to adults and families to serve alongside our mission partners in the barrio outside of town. The cost will be around $2,600 – $2,800 per person and include lodging, airfare, transportation, most meals, and travel insurance. If you are interested, please email clint@clc.life for more info or check back on this site for dates and registration links.

Training

We believe it is the role of the church to equip and train people to do the work of the ministry. Sometimes that involves teaching volunteers how to serve Communion, lead a Children’s Bible lesson, run a chainsaw, facilitate a small group, perform CPR, pray with someone, operate a video camera, and many other opportunities. We update these training events throughout the year, so please discover the upcoming events below. If you need guidance, please ask Clay at ccarson@clc.life
